In today's world, we’re always running toward success. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself what that means? What's your definition of success? Have you thought about it? Most importantly, are you defining success the RIGHT way (for you)?
Success is often defined as achieving a specific goal or reaching a desired outcome. This is a great starting point but I want to challenge you to look at success outside of the traditional external accomplishments or material possessions. Let success, be measured by a personal sense of fulfillment and happiness.
To define success the right way, we need to look beyond the traditional measurements of success, beyond what grandma, our teacher, or even our competition tells us is relevant. We need to turn inwards and focus on our individual values, passions, and purpose. Success should be about living a meaningful and purposeful life, one that aligns with our core values and beliefs. It is about finding joy and fulfillment in our daily lives, and making a positive impact in the world around us.
Success is not a destination, but rather a journey. It is a process of continual growth and self-improvement, where we learn from our failures and setbacks and use them as opportunities for growth. It is important to remember that success is not a one-size-fits-all concept, and what may be considered success for one person may not be the same for another.
Take a second to release the expectations of others and really sit with what your measure of success is. Are you ziplining in Costa Rica? On a beach in Hawaii? Does your version of success include a 6 or 7-figure empire? Building a legacy for your family? Or is it simply to have more time for them? Whatever your success looks like, make sure it's true and authentic to you!
Success is something I’ve grappled with over the last few years. A big part of that struggle came from a shift in what I was willing to prioritize. It took me a while to learn that BEING successful means ACCEPTING the success you have already achieved – in every area of your life.
For me, it’s all about helping other entrepreneurs realize their version of success. Somedays that looks like elaborate vacations without a laptop in sight, while other days it's sneaking in a quick hello to my family between back-to-back clients.
Most days it's something in between but no matter what my day looks like I make sure it's aligned with my version of success. I love that my life is a blend of thoughtfully curated bookshelves and a tornado of colouring books.
